That’s easy to answer FRIEND. People don’t understand the great service animal control provides. They risk their lives every day to keep the communities safe.
People misunderstand their role in the community, they save us everyday from unsafe animals, diseased animals, reptiles, and they keep our loved ones that may have thought they wanted a day of running free in great outdoors, but were unaware of the dangers out there, like cars, trucks, poisons that might be in others yards or on the street. They are true heroes. They help reunite us with our lost loved ones.
Something else people don’t under either, they are the law. They are the police for the animals. They are the voice of the animal. They have the same rights as a police officer. If you were pulled over by a police officer for speeding, you wouldn’t talk back or tear up the ticket he just gave you for speeding. Animal control doesn’t like giving out citations any more than a police officer likes pulling you over. But it is they’re job to keep the community safe. They all take it serious. They care about the animals and the community. So please treat them with the respect they deserve.
Did you know that State of South Carolina law says that if you feed a stray or take in a stray and keep it for more than 5 days, that animal is considered your animal? It becomes your personal property. So if you find a stray cat or dog, please call animal control. It is very dangerous for you or your own pets to try to capture what may be a feral animal that is carrying disease or might bite you. So let the professionals do that for you.
